Bamileke Feather Headdresses and Suzani Textiles

A few of my favorite things...

Feather Headdress -
I have used Bamileke Feather Headdresses as wall art in many of my design projects.  For me, they offer a refreshing break from framed art or canvases and can give a room that unexpected pop of color and texture. Handmade by the tribes in Cameroon – these headdresses are said to represent prosperity, freedom and beauty.  It is important to note that moths love to eat the feathers on these pieces. If you notices tiny little moths, fold up the headdress and put it in the freezer for a month or so. This should remedy the issue.

Suzani Textiles
Handcrafted in Uzbekistan - Known for their vibrant color and beautiful patterns - Suzani textiles can be used in numerous applications – Including pillows, bedspreads, upholstery for furniture, wall hangings, etc.

è bella designs

There are a handful of companies that I work with repeatedly because I love the quality and aesthetic of their products – è bella designs is a favorite on this list. The founder, Nicole Linton fuses contemporary themes with ancient Peruvian weaving techniques to create fabulous pillows, throws and rugs that will complement any interior.  Working with only natural fibers – primarily alpaca – is one of Nicole’s trademarks and is what allows her to create rich textures and vibrant colors that encapsulate her signature style.

Lesley Anton Handmade Ceramic Lighting

Lesley Anton creates handmade ceramic lighting that has a minimal organic quality.  When first seeing her Barnacle Pendant in a showroom I was visiting, I was stopped in my tracks.  I knew that I had come across a very unique and timeless piece.  These lamps and pendants are not just lighting – they are art.  Lesley is truly talented at creating beautiful handmade pieces that are a one of a kind.

Voliere Tambour Drum Table Lamp by Mathieu Challieres

This whimsical little lamp can be found at the Conran Shop in NY. I could not pass this up - as I love birds! Floor, table, and pendant options are available. The only problem was deciding which one to buy... They're all great!

Wingren Sculpture

Jerry Wingren is a master at his craft.  The sculptures Jerry creates are derived from natural materials - wood, stone and metal. His pieces can be placed indoors or outdoors and have a powerful presence in their raw simplicity.  I especially love his Resting Stones (below) and Totems.
